I received my PhD in History at UCLA.  My dissertation, We Shall Refashion Life on Earth! The Political Culture of the Young Communist League, 1918-1928 (2009), examines the formation of young communist identity in NEP Russia.  My current project examines the development of cultures and practices of entrepreneurship in Komsomol administered enterprises in the Soviet Union in the 1970s.  In addition to Russia, my interests include youth movements and culture, social and cultural theory, Marxism, social history, left and right wing radicalism, and political movements.
