About
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Social Sciences and Comparative Education at UCLA. In addition to the research interests listed, I am interested in Third World feminist theory, postcolonial theory, constructions of gender, and feminist methodologies, particularly feminist standpoint theory.
I am a committed and enthusiastic teacher, able to lead a variety of courses ranging from introductions to Women’s Studies, African Studies, and International Education to more specialized graduate or undergraduate seminars in Development, Postcolonial Theory, African Feminism, and Critical Theory. To date, I have taught more than 200 students at the undergraduate level in courses on International Development Studies and 20 students at the graduate level in a course on Human Development, specifically intercultural learning environments and subjectivity.
Since 2006, I have served as Editor-in-Chief of Ufahamu, UCLA's African Studies Journal, a time period that saw the transformation of the journal from subscription-based, print issues to an online format, accessible to anyone. The journal can be found at http://repositories.cdlib.org/international/asc/ufahamu/.
