About
I'm currently conducting fieldwork for my dissertation in the Sierra Chontal of Oaxaca, Mexico. My dissertation will explore the ambivalence of Jehovah's Witnesses with regard to Mexican indigenous languages, whose use they have recently started to encourage; the complicated textual economy of the Witnesses and its role in maintaining the organization's authority; and the use of Chontal and Spanish in religious meetings.
